My Story

From South Carolina to Santorini: A Life Shaped by Greece

I was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, but my heart has always belonged to Greece. From the very first time I set foot in the country, I was captivated — not just by the breathtaking landscapes of the islands and mountains, but by the warmth of the Greek people, the depth of their culture, and the unforgettable flavors of their cuisine. That passion led me to pursue a BA in Modern Greek Studies at Boston University, before making the life-changing decision to move to Greece in 1990.

For 20 years, I lived, worked, and immersed myself fully in Greek life — from language and traditions to food and community. Even after returning to the U.S., Greece remained at the center of my life, and I continue to spend several months every year exploring new corners of the country and reconnecting with familiar places. Over time, I turned this lifelong passion into a mission: helping others discover the real Greece through curated culinary and cultural travel experiences.

Through my company, Be My Guest in Greece, I create tailored travel journeys that go beyond the tourist trail. Whether it’s strolling through bustling markets in Athens, learning to cook traditional recipes in a village taverna, or sailing to a hidden island cove, I help travelers connect with Greece on a personal level. Each trip is designed to celebrate authentic Greek hospitality, food, and lifestyle, ensuring guests not only see Greece but truly experience it.

I am proud to be Gold Certified as a Destination Expert for Greece by Travel Beyond the Obvious, a recognition of both my professional knowledge and my decades of personal connection to the country.

My greatest joy is watching travelers fall in love with Greece the way I did — returning home with cherished memories, new friendships, and a piece of the Greek table and spirit to carry with them forever.
